6 Top Budget Toddler Gifts

Need a great gift for a toddler? On a budget? Here are my top recommendations. Gifts | For Toddler | For Kids | For Boy | For Girl | On A Budget | Cheap | Top | Recommendation | Frugal Living
You don’t need to spend a fortune to find a great gift for a toddler.

If you’re a mum who socialises with other mums then you’ve no doubt had to, at some point, buy gifts for their children. I love choosing gifts for my friends kids and for friends of my kids. But when you’re buying multiple gifts a year then the cost can quickly mount up.

So many birthdays to buy for!

My son has just started nursery which has exposed him to a whole new bunch of friends which is great! He’s a very sociable little boy and it wasn’t long before the first birthday party invite arrived.

Even before he started nursery he had a lot of friends. These friends all had birthdays (obviously!) which often involved a party, or at least a gift being given.

Like I said above, buying lots of presents can get expensive. Very expensive. If your child goes to 10 parties in a year and you spend £10 on each of those children, that’s a whopping £100!!! Continue reading “6 Top Budget Toddler Gifts”

Stop wasting money on recipe books you won’t use, find out why every kitchen needs these 4!

How many recipe books are in your kitchen? 1, 5 10, 50?? When was the last time you looked at each of them? Have you even used them all?

I’m guessing that you have far more books than you actually need. I love browsing through cook books but only really use a handful of recipes from each of them, so their main purpose is cluttering up the kitchen shelves.

There are a few that break that rule though! I have 4 recipe books that I regularly use. And I have tried most of the recipes in them. If I was asked to get rid of all my other recipe books, I would still have all the recipes I regularly use in these 4 books. Continue reading “Top Recipe Books Every Kitchen Should Have”

Getting the kids involved in the kitchen will be easy with these kid-friendly recipes.
Getting the kids involved in the kitchen will be easy with these kid-friendly recipes.

My kids love helping in the kitchen. They love watching what goes on on the hob and they love sitting on the floor watching things bake in the oven. They are fascinated by everything that goes on in there so it makes sense to include them in the cooking and baking processes.

Benefits of cooking with kids

Cooking and baking are activities they have been involved in from a young age. There are so many benefits to having kids help out in the kitchen, here are a few;

  • Fun, free rainy day activity.
  • Quality time and bonding with your kids.
  • Develops early independence of kitchen skills.
  • Helps develop motor skills (gross and fine).
  • Increases the chance they will eat something if they have seen how it’s been made.

It’s easy to have a fun weekend without spending a single penny!

It’s the weekend! Yay! After a week of school/work/general busyness, the weekend is a time to relax and refresh. Unless you have kids. Kids still have a huge amount of energy to burn so sitting down all weekend is out of the question. You’ll all get cabin fever!

But entertaining kids can get expensive. So how do you get out of the house to entertain the little ones without spending a fortune? Continue reading “No Spend Weekend Itinerary”

How to Never be Late Again

Never be late again with this one fail safe rule.
Never be late again with this one fail safe rule.

Being on time is my ‘thing’! I’m never late for anything. EVER! I’ve always been like this. I just can’t stand the thought of being late. Appointments, toddler groups or meeting a friend. Whatever it is, I always make sure I’m on time.

Before kids came along this was easy enough for me. I paid attention to what time I needed to be somewhere then worked backwards from there to work out when I needed to leave the house.

People with no kids don’t know!

Anyone reading this who has kids is likely thinking “Yes, it’s easy to be on time with no kids around to ruin your time schedule with their delay tactics.” I think Michael McIntyre sums things up perfectly with this comedy sketch. If you haven’t already seen this then you absolutely MUST watch it right now!! If you have already seen it then you know what’s coming. BUT, I guarantee you will still find it hilarious so go ahead and give yourself another laugh at the honest truth of what he’s saying.
